Linamar Corporation in Muscle Shoals, AL is seeking a Tooling Technician to monitor, troubleshoot and maintain CNC cutting tool assemblies. You will support production with reliable tooling, prepare tool data for CNC milling, and assist in new programs and training.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, and an apprenticeship in a technical field is preferred, with at least 3 years of relevant experience.

Job Description

Job Title : Tooling Technician

Under regular supervision, the Tooling Technician performs various duties related to multiple manufacturing processes which include monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining equipment and CNC cutting tool assemblies. These functions assist with ensuring quality and efficient production in a safe work environment.

Performance Expectations

• Maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots back-up tools to ensure spare tooling is available to reduce machine downtime.
• Utilizing “Pre-Setter” equipment to build tool assemblies and supply tool data for input into CNC milling machines.
• Prepares training aids and standard work documents for purposes of presenting and transferring knowledge to peers and co-workers .
• Assists in new product development and participates in the implementation of new programs and projects .
• Regularly checks spare tooling to ensure adequate resources are available for production needs.
• Assists in and performs troubleshooting processes, equipment, tooling, and material issues related to production, maintenance or engineering and reports findings .
• Assists in a continuous effort to maintain a hazard-free work environment by monitoring procedures related to cutting tool assemblies used in processing .
• Maintains continuous improvement by monitoring equipment and processes that include running process trials.
• Maintain and improve 5S in Tool Room.
• Assists in continuous improvement activities .
• Prepares cutting tool assemblies for processing and carefully and correctly handles them to meet all safety requirements .
• Completes and performs other duties/tasks as may be assigned

Credentials

• High School Diploma or GED required .
• Apprenticeship in technical field preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
