Linamar Corporation in Muscle Shoals, AL is seeking a CNC Machinist to operate and program CNC mills and lathes, read blueprints, set up tools, and adjust processes to ensure part quality.

You will perform change-overs, edit programs, document quantities in the ERP, inspect parts, and collaborate with Engineering while maintaining a safe, organized work area; a High School Diploma and 3–5 years of CNC experience are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 3-5 years’ experience setting up and operating CNC milling and/or turning machines.

Responsibilities

• Perform change-overs between jobs and set up CNC mills/turns.
• Program, edit, and adjust CNC machine offsets and programs.
• Read blueprints and verify material, dimensions, and heat lot/certification numbers.
• Manufacture parts to required quantity and document in ERP.
• Inspect parts and troubleshoot issues; collaborate with Engineering to improve processes.
• Train Operators on job-related items and maintain a clean, safe work area.
• Provide end-of-shift reports detailing activities.

Job Description

CNC Machinist

Operates and programs computer numerical control (CNC) machines to produce precision metal parts, reading blueprints, setting up machines, setting up machine tools, writing / editing programs, and adjusting to ensure quality.

Performance Expectations

• Complete change-over activities (Machine preparation from previous job set-up to new job set-up)
• Complete manufacturing of first part per process instruction
• Complete machine program edits and offsets to ensure successful capability review and long-term maintenance of programs
• Review supplied raw material for dimensions, quantity, defects, and required heat lot/certification numbers
• Manufacture parts to required quantity
• Document manufactured quantities utilizing ERP system
• Inspect and document parts according to in-process inspection sheet requirements
• Troubleshoot parts when issues occur
• Work with the Engineering department to improve machining processes
• Stabilize machining processes to turn over to Operator for production run
• Train Operators as needed on job related items
• Maintain work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follow prescribed safety procedures
• Document completion of all required processes in ERP system
• Provide end-of-shift report detailing activities of the shift
• Performs additional duties as required

Credentials

• High School Diploma or GED
• 3-5 years’ experience setting up and operating CNC milling and/or turning machines

• Proficient in setup, programming, operation and maintenance of CNC equipment
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
• Understanding of tool steels
• Ability to G-code program preferred
• Mechanical aptitude and skill
