Job summary

BERICAP North America seeks a Tooling Manager to lead a tooling department focused on maintenance, troubleshooting and improvement of thin-wall injection tooling. You will guide technicians, set preventive programs, and ensure quality and safety standards are met across production floors.

The role requires strong leadership, hands-on repair expertise, and collaboration with quality and engineering teams to reduce downtime and improve productivity.

Qualifications

  • Technical college diploma or industrial license preferred.
  • Experience leading tooling or maintenance teams in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong problem solving and preventative maintenance skills.

  • Oversee tooling maintenance, repair and calibration to minimize downtime.
  • Lead technicians to diagnose and resolve mold/tool issues (mechanical/electrical/hydraulic).

Job description

The Tooling Manager will manage a fleet of thin wall injection molding tools by coordinating the maintenance, troubleshooting and improvement efforts performed by the tooling department to minimize downtime and improve productivity.

Responsibilities
General
  • Ensure that all work undertaken or supervised is carried out safely and without injury
  • Ensure all quality, food safety, safety, environmental as well as all other Company policies and procedures are followed
  • Ensure that all quality, food safety, safety, and environmental issues are reported to the appropriate manager or supervisor
  • Ensure Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) are followed at all times (no jewelry, cell phone, nicotine in any form, etc.)
  • Initiates corrective action for non-conformances
  • Identify Opportunities for Improvement and enter into See It, Sort It, Report It system
  • Duties as assigned per Operations Manager
  • Able and willing to wear appropriate PPE as required
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 5%
Tooling and Mold Managem
  • tManage the maintenance, repair and calibration of all tooling and molds used in the plastic injection process in a manner that reaches department KPI’
  • sDevelop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to ensure optimal performance and longevity of equipmen
  • tLead a team of skilled technicians in diagnosing and troubleshooting issues with tooling and molds to include identifying and resolving mechanical, electrical and hydraulic issue
  • sCoordinate repairs and maintenance activities to minimize downtime and production delay
  • sIdentify opportunities for process optimization, efficiency gains and cost savings in tooling and mold maintenance operation
  • sImplement improvements to enhance reliability, reduce waste and improve overall productivit
  • yWork closely with quality control and production teams to ensure that tooling and molds meet the required standards for dimensional accuracy, surface finish and product consistenc
  • yConduct inspections and audits to verify compliance with specifications and quality requirement
  • sMonitor systems for press downtime due to mold repairs and tracking repair duration
  • sEvaluating mold conditions and taking appropriate actio
  • nCommunicate with Operations Manager on a regular basis on day to day operation
  • sCollaborating with other departments on tooling issues and providing product floor technical suppor
  • tUse effective problem solving methodology in order to identify and solve true root causes for major injection mold failures as well as identification and resolution of repeat failure
