Job summary

Andersen Corporation is seeking a skilled machinist to set up, troubleshoot, and operate metalworking machinery on a manufacturing floor in a fast-paced environment. You will contribute to process development and fixture design while collaborating with leaders and fellow machinists to achieve production targets.

Applicants should have experience with quality measuring equipment, GD&T, and strong problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience with quality measuring equipment and GD&T.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Safety PPE required on shop floor.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, troubleshoot, and operate metalworking machinery (CNC centers, wire EDM, mills, lathes, welding).
  • Assist with process development and fixture design.
  • Collaborate with department lead and team to meet goals.
  • Maintain clean work area and assist with maintenance.

The possibility for our employees to achieve their full potential, for our communities to be stronger and for everyone to have a healthier, happier place to live.Our portfolio of brands — Andersen Windows & Doors, Renewal by Andersen and Fenetres MQ — is crafted to serve customers across the new residential, home improvement and light commercial building sector.Join our more than 13,000 employees who are inspired every day to deliver exceptional experiences that turn possibility into reality.JOB DESCRIPTION:PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:Setting up, troubleshooting, and operating metal working machinery that includes the following: CNC machining centers, wire EDM machines, manual mills, manual lathes, welding , etc.Haas or Charmilles experience a plus.Assisting with process development, process improvement, and fixture design.Depending on individual’s previous experience, some use of Mastercam may be required as well.Works closely with the Department Lead, Operations Manager, Production Coordinator, and other machinists as a team.Following all Quality Management procedures and processes and work with quality personnel to determine best suited inspection processes when applicable.Maintaining a clean and organized work area and the cleanliness of the machines or work areas as assigned.Assist with overall area and facility housekeeping activitiesAssist with maintenance and repair of equipment in your assigned area as needed and requested.Working towards the achievement of defined personal goals established with managementRequest resources and guidance as needed from management in the achievement of these goals.These stated duties and responsibilities may change from time to time based on the ever changing needs of the organization, its customers, and staff.QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:Ability to use quality measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, pin gauges, indicators, etc.)Excellent troubleshooting/problem-solving skillsIs dependable and possesses a high level of integrityTakes initiative, works and communicates well with othersRespectful attitude towards othersPossesses strong organizational and multi-tasking skillsHas deep understanding of GD&TIs a good communicator in both oral and written formsExcels in a team environment and works well with othersIs able to work in a fast-paced, small company environmentAbility to lift/pull up to fifty (50) pounds, to stand for long periods of time, and to wear personal protective equipmentHigh School Diploma or GED is required.SAFETY:Proper PPE to be worn while on the shop floor, including safety glasses, long pants, steel toe boots; no loose or baggy clothing.WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.Work involves frequent lifting of materials and product up to 50lbs.Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle and/or adjust equipment. Moderate reaching, pushing, pulling, gripping and grasping.Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel toed work boots or shoes.Occasional overtime work may be required to meet business demands.
