Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Tooling & Equipment Manufacturing Engineer to lead the development and implementation of electrical tooling and hardware solutions within GM manufacturing plants, driving VaaT deployment across multiple sites.

You will own plant-facing execution, translating manufacturing needs into practical tooling, hardware, and equipment solutions that enable scalable deployment, and guide the project from concept through installation and early production support.

Qualifications

• Experience leading manufacturing execution, tooling, or equipment implementation in a plant environment.
• Ability to translate manufacturing needs into practical tooling and hardware solutions.
• Proven ability to lead from the floor, coordinating downtime and cross-functional execution.
• Experience defining requirements and solving open-ended manufacturing challenges.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the execution lead for Vehicle as a Tester tooling deployment across plants, from concept through installation and launch.
• Own plant-facing execution by translating needs into tooling and equipment solutions for scalable VaaT deployment.
• Lead development of requirements, specs, design criteria, sourcing plans, validation, downtime, and installation strategies.
• Provide technical leadership through concepting, prototyping, validation, supplier coordination, and launch support.
• Partner with software, manufacturing, program management, conveyors, general assembly, industrial engineering, and plant teams to ensure flawless execution.
