Job summary

Associated Materials Innovations is seeking a Tooling Design Manager to lead a team of machinists and technicians in designing and optimizing extrusion tools. You will manage timelines, budgets, and coordinate with production to ensure efficient factory operations across multiple sites.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and 5+ years of CAD/CAM experience (SolidWorks preferred).

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field (experience may be considered).
5+ years of CAD/CAM experience, preferably SolidWorks in manufacturing design.
Expert understanding of machining, fabrication, weldments, tolerances, materials, and design processes.

Responsibilities

Lead a team of machinists and technicians; set goals and coordinate with production staff.
Control project costs across multiple plants and manage external vendors.
Lead creation of 2D and 3D designs for extrusion tools using CAD/CAM software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Esprit).
Collaborate with production, quality, and new product design groups to solve manufacturing challenges.
Improve tool reliability, safety standards, and manufacturing efficiency using lean methods.
Oversee equipment capabilities including Wire EDM, CNC Haas centers, heat treat, laser welding, 3D printing/scanning, and traditional machining centers.
