Job summary

Hanwha Aerospace USA in Newington, CT is seeking a Tool Setter for the 2nd shift to prepare tooling and set up MAZAK automated line mill/turn machines for high-rate aerospace component production.

You will read process sheets, install tooling, monitor machine displays, inspect first-run pieces, and support changeovers while upholding quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. Person and able to work with ITAR data.
• High School Degree or G.E.D required.
• 2+ years of CNC machine set up experience or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate professionally at all levels.
• Ability to read, interpret process sheets and blueprints.
• Ability to travel 5-10% when required.

Responsibilities

• Reads process sheets, blueprints and sketches to determine machining and tolerances.
• Installs and presets tooling in tool posts as per process sheet.
• Starts machining operations and monitors controls.
• Checks displays against process sheets to verify dimensions.
• Inspects first-run and later pieces using micrometers and dial gauges.
• Prepares materials for next run to shorten changeover time.
• Documents in-process inspection procedures.
• Maintains SPC charts by inspecting parts.
• May set up or operate another machine tool during cycles.
• May machine non-metallic materials.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Summary:

This person will be responsible for setting up cutting tools for MAZAK automated line Mill/Turn Machines to perform precision machining operations for high-rate aerospace components. The tool setter will also have the opportunity to cross train in other departments to gain shop wide experience and machining skill set introduction.

Essential Functions:

• Reads process sheets, blueprints and sketches of part to determine machining to be done, dimensional specifications, set up, and operating requirements.
• Installs and preset tooling in tool posts, in sequence specified on process sheet.
• Depresses buttons, toggles and starts machining operation.
• Observes numerical displays on control panel and compares with data on process sheet to verify dimensional adjustments.
• Inspects first-run piece and spot-checks succeeding pieces for conformance to specifications, using micrometers and precision dial gauges.
• Studies job packet and organizes materials for next run during automatically controlled cycles to shorten changeover time.
• Documents the in-process inspection procedures
• Inspects and measures parts to maintain statistical process control charts.
• May set up and operate another machine tool during automatically controlled machining cycles.
• May machine non-metallic materials.
• Perform other related duties or responsibilities as requested or required.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• Must be a “U.S. Person” as defined by the U.S. Government and able to work without restrictions with ITAR related data.
• High School Degree or G.E.D required.
• 2+ years of CNC machine set up experience or equivalent.
