Job summary

Hanwha Aerospace USA is seeking a CNC Machinist 2 for our Cheshire, CT facility. The role focuses on planning and performing CNC milling operations to machine metal parts, using blueprints and engineering instructions.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of CNC experience, can read and interpret blueprints, and works well in a team. This is a first-shift position with standard safety and quality expectations in an aerospace environment.

Qualifications

• Must be a “U.S. Person” as defined by the U.S. Government and able to work without restrictions with ITAR data.
• High School Degree or G.E.D.
• 3+ years of experience as a CNC Machinist, aerospace preferred.

Responsibilities

• Machine parts to specifications using lathes and milling machines.
• Work from blueprints, engineering instructions, specifications, and blueprints.
• Measure, examine, and test completed units with micrometers to ensure conformance.
• Set up, adjust, and operate basic machine tools and many specialized tools for precision machining.
• Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, and materials onto machines.
• Check parts to ensure proper lubrication and cooling.
• Operate equipment to verify operational efficiency.
• Maintain records of in-process inspection data as required.
• Report faulty or unusual conditions to supervision.
• Adhere to safety and housekeeping standards.

Summary:

Plan and perform various CNC and milling operations to machine a variety of metal parts.

Essential Functions:

• Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes and milling machines.
• Work from blueprints, engineering instructions, specifications, and blueprints.
• Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers.
• Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized tools in order to perform precision machining operations.
• Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
• Select appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in the preparation of machine work.
• Check part to ensure that they are properly lubricated and cooled.
• Operate equipment to verify operational efficiency.
• Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment in order to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter.
• Maintain records and documents in-process inspection data as required.
• Report faulty or unusual conditions to the appropriate level of supervision.
• Adhere to standards of safety and housekeeping standards.
• Operate and measure machine.
• Perform other related duties or responsibilities as required.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• Must be a “U.S. Person” as defined by the U.S. Government and able to work without restrictions with ITAR related data.
• High School Degree or G.E.D
• 3+ years of experience as a CNC Machinist, aerospace preferred.

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to operate CNC machines, Mitsui preferred.
• Must be able to read, write, understand, and speak English at a functional level.
• Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of the organization.
• Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and standard business practices.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering work instructions.
• Must have strong attention to detail.
• Ability to set up and operate CNC turning and milling machines.
• Ability to read and understand engineering work instructions.
• Ability to measure using standard shop tools, machine tools, and engineered gaging to close established tolerances.
• Knowledge of appropriate speeds and feeds for materials and tools.
• Knowledge of machines codes and G codes.
• Ability to travel domestically – 5% max.
