Job summary

OTTO Engineering, Inc. in Carpentersville, IL, is seeking a seasoned Tool Room Supervisor to lead our tool and die operations within stamping environments. You will oversee tooling production, maintenance, and quality in close collaboration with press and engineering teams.

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years in Tool and Die, plus 3+ years of supervisory experience, strong SPC knowledge, and the ability to manage safety, schedules, and costs in a fast-paced shop.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years in Tool and Die
• Minimum 3 years as a supervisor
• Knowledge of SPC
• Ability to lift 50 lbs with assistance
• Ability to use various inspection equipment
• Knowledge of tool steels and stamping materials
• Mandatory overtime or extended schedules

Responsibilities

• Schedule production with Pressroom and die tryouts
• Train tool and die apprentices
• Build, troubleshoot, repair and maintain progressive dies
• Understand tool steels and production materials
• Know tool room equipment intimately
• Inspect parts to quality specs
• Read blueprints to construct/repair tools
• Design and fabricate tooling for stamping
• Maintain tooling records for PM
• Assist in manufacturability of piece parts
• Understand presses operation and setup
• Order supplies for tool room
• Ensure quality from stamping
• Maintain safe, clean work area
• Assist with related duties as required
