Job summary

Janco, Inc. is seeking a Machine Operator to support tooling maintenance, manual machining, and quality compliance in a 1st shift, Monday–Friday role on site. The candidate will work with CNC molds and tooling components in a regulated environment, requiring attention to detail and strong safety practices.

The position demands experience with bridgeport mills, lathes, surface grinders, and basic CNC familiarity; fluency in English is essential for safety instructions and orders.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years in a manufacturing tool room.

Responsibilities

• Tooling Maintenance & Repair: clean, polish, assemble, and repair CNC machined aluminum thermoforming molds, heated plates, plug assists, and high-precision trim tools.
• Manual Machining: operate manual tool room equipment (Bridgeport mills, lathes, surface grinders) to modify, repair, or fabricate tooling components.
• Troubleshooting: diagnose forming or trimming defects with production team and implement fixes.
• Quality & Compliance: inspect tooling tolerances using micrometers, calipers, indicators per ISO 13485.
• Perform and complete other tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Tooling Maintenance & Repair: clean, polish, assemble, and repair CNC machined aluminum thermoforming molds, heated plates, plug assists, and high-precision trim tools.


• Manual Machining: safely and accurately operate manual tool room equipment (Bridgeport mills, lathes, surface grinders) to modify, repair, or fabricate tooling components.


• Troubleshooting: partner with the production team to diagnose forming or trimming defects (thinning, webbing, poor cuts) and implement fast, effective tooling fixes.


• Quality & Compliance: inspect and verify tooling tolerances using micrometers, calipers, and indicators to ensure strict compliance with ISO 13485 regulations and medical standards.


• Perform and complete other tasks as assigned.

• Read blueprints & diagrams: ability to interpret engineering drawings, and assembly schematics.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to stand long periods of time and walk continuously through assigned areas.


• Must be able to lift up to 45lbs.


• Must have full range of motion, bending, reaching, and lifting.

Education & Experience Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing tool room. Preferably working with thermoforming, injection molding, and stamping designs.


• Understanding of aluminum mold care and match-metal trim alignment preferred. Willing to train the right candidate.


• Experience with CNC programming (G-code, Mastercam) or operating CNC mills to perform minor tool modifications is a bonus.


• Experience working with ISO 13485, FDA-regulated, or cleanroom manufacturing environment a bonus.
