Job summary

Simpson Strong-Tie is seeking a Tool & Die Maker Apprentice in Stockton, CA. You will support the New Tooling department, work with journeymen on progressive dies, and help coordinate material orders and die builds.

This full-time, in-office role offers training, mentorship, and hands-on experience with stamping tools. Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and pursue an apprenticeship, with several years in tool room machining and CAD drawing interpretation.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Participation in Simpson Strong-tie’s Apprenticeship program and current enrollment in a college-level machine technology program required.
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in Tool & Die/Tool room machining.
  • Minimum of 4 years experience with precision assembly methods and techniques.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience stamping manufacturing preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings & blueprints; read, create, and interpret 2D AutoCAD drawings.
  • Strong communication and team skills for a fast-paced shop environment.

Responsibilities

  • Build progressive stamping dies in collaboration with journeymen Tool & Die Makers.
  • Coordinate material and component orders with project leads and deliveries.
  • Report daily progress on machining projects and die builds to shop leads.

Assists with coordinating material and component orders and deliveries with project leads. (80%)Reports to shop leads individual daily progress on all machining projects, die tryouts, and new die builds. Coordinates with other team members to accomplish tasks in a timely manner. (10%)Receive training, mentorship, and guidance from Journeymen, Leads, and Machinists. Sets a strong example of safe work practices and helps ensure that others are working safely.
