Job summary

The Pivot Group Network is partnering with Norton Shores manufacturing firms to identify skilled Tool Makers. This role focuses on fabricating, repairing, and maintaining dies, molds, and tooling to exacting specifications.

Qualified candidates have a Tool & Die Maker apprenticeship or equivalent, 5+ years in tooling, and proficiency with blueprints, GD&T, and CAD/CAM software. On-site position with competitive salary and benefits.

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized Tool & Die Maker apprenticeship program or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment, specializing in tool making.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Demonstrated ability to operate a variety of machine shop equipment, including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDM machines.
• Strong understanding of GD&T principles and their application in precision manufacturing.
• Experience with CAD/CAM software for tool design and programming.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, alter, and repair a wide range of tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
• Interpret blueprints, sketches, and 3D models to determine dimensions and tolerances.
• Set up and operate various machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and EDMs.
• Perform precision measurements using a variety of inspection tools to ensure accuracy.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex tooling issues and recommend design improvements.
• Select appropriate materials and heat treatment processes for tool longevity and performance.
• Maintain and calibrate equipment and ensure a clean and safe work environment.

• Certification or advanced training in precision machining, metrology, or a related field.
