Job summary

Flex-N-Gate in Ohio is seeking a skilled mold technician to perform extensive mold repair and routine preventative maintenance on injection molds, including disassembly and reassembly, plus strong troubleshooting and production support.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, setting up machines, measuring metal stock, and working with lathes, mills, grinders and overhead cranes. Journeyman card or 8 years’ experience preferred; all three shifts available with overtime.

Qualifications

• Journeyman card or 8 years’ experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with injection molds and routine maintenance.
• Ability to read blueprints and specs.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain injection molds and fixtures.
• Troubleshoot mold-related issues and support production.

Job Duties

• Extensive mold repair and maintenance, routine preventative maintenance on injection molds that requires full disassembly and assembly.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• Responsibilities include production support as well as job assignment in the shop.
• Basic machining skills required on lathes, mills, and grinders.
• Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate metal parts.
• Computes dimensions, plans layout, and determines assembly method and sequence of operations.
• Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock for machining.
• Knowledge of lifting and rigging techniques for dies and machined parts with overhead cranes.
• Ability to verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances.
• Heat treats metal tools or parts.
• Examines standard or previously used dies, tools, and jigs and fixtures, and recommends design modifications regarding construction and function of part.
• Develops specifications from general description for specialty tools and draws or sketches design of product.

Working Environment And Conditions

Working environment conditions include potential for high heat during spring, summer and fall months, moderate noise conditions, working with controlled chemicals, interacting with industrial truck traffic as a pedestrian, working on or around hazardous machinery, infrequent lifts of 40 lbs or greater, working from a step ladder less than 6 feet, working in confined spaces, and potentially obtain an in‑plant industrial truck license. Some overtime is mandated. Candidate must be willing to work all three shifts.
