Job description

Position Summary :

The Tool Maker is responsible for the manufacturing of Clamping, Forming, and Cutting tools per engineering prints. The candidate for this role will operate CNC and manual machining centers to include, Haas CNC mill and lathes, CNC wire EDM, Walter Helitronic Power, CNC grinder, Cylindrical grinders, Surface grinders, Tool and cutter grinders, Honing machine, milling machine, Engine lathe, and drill press.

Principal Functional Responsibilities:

• Make safety your number one priority leading by example, and supporting the safety environment at BrassCraft
• Program, setup and operate a range of machinery including CNC and manual machining centers, Haas CNC mill and lathes, CNC wire EDM, Walter Helitronic Power, CNC grinder, cylindrical grinders, surface grinders, tool and cutter grinders, Honing machine, milling machine, engine lathe, and drill press
• Maintain a customer-focused mindset to support our internal customers; actively seek to understand problems to aid in a solution
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

• Good mechanical aptitude
• Previous machine shop or toolroom experience
• Experience machining using manual machines
• Demonstrated ability to understand and correctly use all measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, comparators, and others
• Ability to read and understand blueprints/layouts

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous Master Cam X5 or higher experience
• Experience with Surface grinding Close tolerance +/-.0005 and Cylindrical grinding Close tolerance +/- .00025
• Experience grinding solid carbide
• 3+ years previous machine shop or toolroom experience
• Successful completion of CNC machining or grinding course
• Basic understanding of G-Code programming

Competencies:

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Detail oriented
• Understanding of math used in machining
