AMETEK, Inc. is seeking an experienced Toolmaker to build and repair fixtures, jigs and tooling for surgical instrumentation and implants.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, setting up CNC centers, training apprentices, maintaining documentation, and ensuring safety and quality. This role demands high precision, multi-tasking ability and teamwork in a fast-paced shop in Southington, CT.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints or work from instructions.

  • Train new Toolmakers and Apprentices.
  • Set up and operate CNC centers and manual machines.
  • Ensure fixtures, assemblies, and tools meet print and document procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and repair fixturing; perform preventive maintenance.

Job description

Responsible for building and/or repairing all types, sizes and shapes of fixtures, jigs and tooling.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret blueprints or work from verbal or written instructions.
  • Produce jigs and assembly fixtures and tooling with no instruction for use with surgical instrumentation and implants.
  • Responsible for training new Toolmakers and Apprentices.
  • Set-up & Operate CNC machining centers as well as manual mills, lathes, surface grinders, and other tool room equipment as necessary.
  • Responsible for ensuring all assigned fixtures, assemblies, and tools are inspected to print and all documentation is recorded to department procedures.
  • Troubleshoot problems associated with equipment, fixtures, jigs, tooling and related processes. Also responsible for re-work or repair of all fixturing.
  • Complete required preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Maintain a clean work area and assure safe operation of all equipment.
  • Assure all policies and procedures are followed and safety precautions are taken to reduce the risk of injury.
  • Responsible to comply with company requirements and complete essential documentation as required.

  • Knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD) and/or computer-aided manufacturing (CAM).

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize accordingly.
  • High degree of precision and control in work where damage could be high and where muscular control and delicate touch are required.
  • High degree of attention and care.
Compensation

Employee Type: Hourly

Salary Minimum: 90,000
Salary Maximum: 105,000
