Job summary

AMETEK is seeking a skilled CNC Operator to set up and run equipment that machines precision components to specified drawings and instructions. You will load, align, and secure parts, measure features with precision tools, and document results while working with a team in a high-volume production environment.

The role requires interpreting military and aerospace drawings, lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, and maintaining strict quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years related experience.
  • Technical school training a plus.
  • 3+ years in manufacturing/aerospace a plus.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to support overtime requirements.
  • Able to lift 10 pounds consistently without assistance, 50 pounds occasionally with assistance.
  • Knowledge of general workshop tools and equipment pertaining to sheet metal and the aerospace industries.
  • Must be able to understand and interpret technical drawings to military and aerospace specifications.
  • Able to do basic shop math calculations.
  • Maintain established standards of quality, productivity & attendance.
  • Follow instruction and direction.
  • Able to work in a high-volume production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC equipment (lathes, mills, drills) to fabricate components.
  • Mount, align, and secure workholding, tools, attachments, and materials.
  • Load parts and cycle machines for efficiency and conformance.
  • Measure and inspect features per drawings using basic gauges.
  • Identify nonconformances and document results.
  • Record data describing work performed and defects found.
  • Complete tasks within timeframes and maintain documentation.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to PPE policies.
  • Interpret parts of drawings and process instructions; work to tight tolerances.
  • Move raw materials and set up equipment; calibrate accessories.
  • Monitor machines during production and adjust as needed.
  • Perform quality checks on finished products.

Job description

Position Summary: This role is a skilled role responsible for setting up and running CNC equipment to machine or fabricate a variety of precision components to specifications by following drawings, work instructions and in-process inspection requirements.

How You Will Do It
  • Use various CNC equipment such as CNC lathes, milling and drilling machines, etc. to operate or fabricate components for final assembly.
  • Mount, align and secure work holding, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
  • Load parts and cycle machine to ensure optimal efficiency and conformance.
  • Measure and inspect part features per drawing to ensure conformance and detect defects using precision instruments using basic gaging and inspection tools (i.e. Dial Calipers, Gage Pins, Micrometers).
  • Recognize and understand nonconformance.
  • Record information or data describing work performed or defects found.
  • Complete assigned work within given timeframe efficiently and according to specifications and complete all documentation.
  • Cooperate with other employees in the department to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures, including required PPE for the respective job being performed.
  • Interpreting part of drawings and process instructions.
  • Work to tight tolerances.
  • Load and unload raw materials and equipment, and setting up and calibrating accessories.
  • Monitor machines while assembling products, and making adjustments as needed.
  • Perform quality checks before running the machines, and inspecting the finished product to ensure it meets specifications.
  • Report any mechanical issues to your lead, supervisor, or maintenance department.
  • Obtain and document work orders, and keeping detailed records for equipment and procedures.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned.
