Job Summary
This position supports both maintenance and machining operations based on production needs. The role is hands on and will focus on maintaining and repairing injection units, production tooling, fixtures, and related equipment. Responsibilities include preventative maintenance, mechanical troubleshooting, disassembly and assembly, cleaning, drilling, tapping, grinding, and general tool repair.
The position will also work closely with production and engineering to address tooling issues, support manufacturing schedules, and assist with continuous improvement efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, disassemble, clean, repair, reassemble, and test injection units
- Perform preventative maintenance and general repairs on production tooling and equipment
- Drill, tap, deburr, polish, grind, sand, and replace inserts as needed
- Repair and refurbish metal and composite tools and fixtures
- Use hand and power tools including drills, routers, riveters, grinders, and sanders
- Perform leak checks and support welding, brazing, and riveting activities
- Assist production technicians with tooling issues and minor repairs
- Inspect completed work to ensure tooling meets quality and repair requirements
- Track tooling location, status, inventory, and required documentation
- Coordinate tooling changes, supplier rework, and release of repaired tools
- Support the development and maintenance of production engineering tooling processes
- Assist with evaluating tooling requirements and creating statements of work for supplier fabricated tooling
- Work closely with production and engineering to resolve problems and keep manufacturing on schedule
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- 2 to 4 years of related hands on experience
- 3 to 5 years of composite manufacturing experience
- Strong mechanical aptitude with basic math and blueprint reading skills
- Experience using hand tools in a manufacturing, maintenance, or tooling environment
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and tooling related issues
- Welding and brazing experience or training is preferred
- Ability to follow detailed work instructions and work independently
- Strong communication and problem solving skills
- Comfortable working in a team oriented production environment focused on quality, cost, and schedule requirements
