Job summary

ARaymond in Rochester Hills, MI seeks a Tool Maintenance Technician to maintain high-quality tooling through preventative maintenance, minor repairs, and visual evaluation. Expect to read work orders, disassemble/assemble molds safely, and keep a clean, organized work area.

You will operate precision tools such as surface grinders and EDM machines, supporting process engineers to reduce downtime. Qualified candidates have a high school diploma and 5+ years in a tool room with plastic injection

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 5+ years of hands-on mold repair or mold maintenance experience.
• Ability to read tooling work orders and operate basic hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Must be a team player and educate and share ideals when needed.
• Read and understand tooling work orders and follow instructions.
• Responsible for the correct disassembly and assembly molds in a safe and timely manner.
• Able to clean molds and assist Maintenance Technicians when needed.
• Work to a schedule and meet deadlines in a timely manner.
• Maintain a clean and well-organized work area.
• Utilize measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, height gauge, bore micrometers.
• Assist in monitoring process to help keep inventory in stock.
• Reduce machine downtime.
• Maintain tools and equipment and daily cleaning of tool room machinery.
• Assist in maintaining maintenance records on company system.
• Work with little supervision with clear direction.
• Collaborate with Process Engineers to troubleshoot tooling issues.
• Work on the production floor with tools in press to minimize downtime.
• Able to operate Surface grinder within ±0.0002 tolerance.
• Able to operate a Bridgeport/Lathe within ±0.001 tolerance.
• Able to run an EDM machine.
• Knowledge of Mold Master, Senventive, Osco and others.
• Able to polish and bench details.
• Ability to fit new detail and spot in.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues and repair.
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems.
• Other duties as assigned.

Tool Maintenance Technician

Position Summary:

To maintain high quality tooling through preventative maintenance, minor repair, and visual evaluation.

• Assist in the monitoring process to help keep a reasonable component inventory in stock.
• Reduce machine downtime.
• Maintain all tools and equipment that are used including the daily cleaning of tool room machinery.
• Assist in maintaining maintenance records on the company computer system.
• Work with little or no supervision when given clear direction.
• Work with Process Engineers to trouble shoot issues with tool or improve on.
• Be able to work on the production floor with tool in press to correct any issue to keep down time at a minimum.
• Able to operate a Surface grinder with in a + or - .0002 on critical details.
• Able to operate a Bridgeport/Lathe with in a + or - .001 tolerance.
• Able to run a EDM machine
• Knowledge of Manifold systems Example: Mold Master, Senventive, Osco and etc.
• Able to polish and bench details.
• Ability to fit new detail and spot in.
• Ability to trouble shoot issues and repair.
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5 plus years of hands on experience in a tool room involving plastic injection mold repair or mold maintenance.

Skills

• 3 plus years plus of experience using hand operated tool room equipment.
• Knowledge and understanding of mold and die components and their respective characteristics.
• Ability to read and understand tooling work orders
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Prototype tool making experience, helpful.
• Plastic injection processing experience, highly desired.
• Trade school or some college, preferred.
