Job summary

Coherent Corp in Sherman, TX is seeking an experienced installation engineer to install, position, hookup, and startup semiconductor equipment with minimal supervision.

You will lead supplier-led commissioning, coordinate with contractors and engineering teams, and ensure readiness through documentation and calibration.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Electronics/Mechatronics or related field is preferred.
• Military electronics or technical training accepted.
• Experience with semiconductor equipment installation, maintenance, commissioning, or manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Install, position, hookup, and startup support of semiconductor equipment with minimal supervision.
• Lead portions of supplier-led commissioning, checkout, and acceptance activities (FAT/SAT).
• Coordinate daily activities between contractors, OEM Field Service Engineers, Facilities, and Equipment Engineering to maintain schedules.
• Own installation packages from mechanical completion through operational readiness.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum, gas delivery, exhaust, cooling water, and process utilities.
• Verify installation against OEM specs, facility drawings, and engineering standards.
• Identify installation risks, develop corrective actions, and communicate recommendations to Engineering leadership.
• Review contractor work for compliance with specifications, workmanship, and safety requirements.
• Lead equipment recovery activities after installation or maintenance issues.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance and equipment calibrations as assigned.
• Train and mentor Level I and Level II technicians on installation practices, troubleshooting techniques, and safe work execution.
• Support development of installation standards, work instructions, commissioning checklists, and best practices.
• Maintain accurate documentation within Camstar and other maintenance management systems.
• Participate in root cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support equipment turnover into manufacturing while ensuring documentation is complete and accurate.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Independently execute installation, positioning, hookup, and startup support of semiconductor manufacturing equipment with minimal supervision.

Lead assigned portions of supplier-led commissioning, checkout, and acceptance activities (FAT/SAT).

Coordinate daily activities between contractors, OEM Field Service Engineers, Facilities, and Equipment Engineering to maintain installation schedules.

Education & Experience

Associate's Degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, Industrial Technology, or related technical discipline preferred.

Military electronics or technical training accepted.

5-8 years of semiconductor equipment installation, maintenance, commissioning, or manufacturing experience.

Skills

• Advanced knowledge of semiconductor equipment systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems independently.
• Working knowledge of vacuum, gas delivery, cooling water, exhaust, power distribution, and controls.
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, P&IDs, and OEM documentation.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously.
• Demonstrated mentoring and leadership capability.
• Proficient with CMMS systems such as Camstar.

Working Conditions

• Class 100/1000 cleanroom environment.
• Full cleanroom attire required.
• Exposure to chemicals and gases.
• Compressed shift schedules may apply.

Physical Requirements

• Stand up to 10 hours; lift up to 50 lbs.
