Responsibilities

• Develop tooling concepts and support equipment for programs.
• Design tooling and equipment, including drawings, inspection requirements, and verification plans.
• Review designs for manufacturability, fit, form, and function.
• Identify and mitigate safety risks per standards.
• Create layouts of complex assemblies and details for structures.
• Prepare preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes for proposals.
• Interface with internal customers and design review teams to meet requirements.
• Coordinate with manufacturing, operations, and process engineering to support quality, delivery, and cost goals.
• Manage tooling projects including cost, schedule, procurement, and fabrication.
• Check layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, standards conformance, and dimensional accuracy.
• Identify design errors and propose revisions to engineers/designers.
• Support vendors during fabrication and inspect tooling for drawing compliance; support continuous improvement and root-cause investigations.

Job description

Position would require the candidate to be a W2 employee of Donatech. US Citizenship Required.

• Develop tooling concepts and support equipment for new and existing programs
• Design tooling and equipment, including engineering drawings, inspection requirements, and verification plans
• Review designs for manufacturability, fit, form, and function
• Identify and mitigate safety risks in accordance with company and state/government standards
• Make layouts of complex assemblies and details parts of structures
• Develops basic data and makes preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposal.
• Interface with internal customers and design review teams to ensure requirements are met
• Coordinates with manufacturing, operations, and process engineering to support program quality, delivery, and cost objectives
• Manage tooling projects, including cost, schedule, procurement, and fabrication
• Checks completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning.
• Identifies design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommends revisions and/or improvements in design layout to responsible engineers or designers.
• Support vendors during fabrication and inspect fabricated tooling for drawing compliance- Support continuous improvement initiatives and proactive problem-solving Safety, Process, and Compliance- Support investigations related to root cause analysis, non-conformances, and process failures

Basic Qualifications

• Experience with industry standard design tools including NX CAD & CATIA
• Knowledge of manufacturing, fabrication processes & machine shop practices
• Experience with drawing release criteria and related documents for:
• Completeness, clarity, and dimensional accuracy
• Correctness of materials and processes
• Conformity to design/drafting standards (e.g. GD&T), design specifications, and practicability
• Economy of fabrication, assembly, and installation
• Knowledge and application of GD&T (ASME Y14.5-2018)
• Knowledge and application of drawing weld symbols
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills in managing time, projects, and resources
• Technical attention to detail
• Must be a U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET security clearance & special program access
• Bachelors Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment
• Experience in engineering, design, and fabrication of special tooling and support equipment
• Experience in design, fabrication and implementation of tooling used in the manufacture of composite parts
• Ability to evaluate vendor capabilities for tooling and aerospace part production
• Experience participating in developments project, establishing tooling SOW & design estimates
• Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system
• Excellent organizational and project management skills
• Experience with stress analysis of simple to complex problems via hand calculations and FEMAP/NASTRAN
• Professional Engineering License
• Current active DOD Secret clearance with an investigation date/periodic review within the last 5 years.
