Job description

Our client is a U.S.-based precision metal fabrication and manufacturing organization serving customers across aerospace, defense, medical, and industrial markets. The company specializes in complex sheet metal fabrication, machining, welding, finishing, and full assembly, supporting both prototype development and high-volume production. Known for high quality standards, tight tolerances, and vertically integrated capabilities, the team partners closely with customers to deliver reliable, mission-critical components from concept through final production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design & Development: Lead the design and development of tooling and mechanical systems for deep draw manufacturing processes, ensuring that all designs meet required specifications, functionality, and quality standards.
  • Tooling Expertise: Collaborate with the tooling department to create innovative tooling solutions that support deep draw manufacturing operations. Ensure that tooling designs are optimized for manufacturability and cost-efficiency.
  • Process Improvement: Analyze, develop, and implement continuous process improvements to optimize manufacturing efficiency, enhance product quality, and reduce lead times in deep draw operations.
  • Technical Support: Provide hands‑on engineering support to the production floor, troubleshooting technical issues, and working closely with operators to improve processes and machine efficiency.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all designs and processes adhere to ITAR, AS9100 and ISO standards, as well as internal quality metrics. Collaborate with the Quality Department to implement robust quality controls.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed engineering documentation, including design specifications, tooling requirements, and process instructions. Prepare reports on project status, process improvements, and technical issues.
  • New Product Introduction (NPI): Participate in New Product Introduction (NPI) processes by providing engineering expertise to ensure successful scaling from prototype to full production.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with production, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless integration of new tooling and designs into production lines.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in mechanical design, tooling, and deep draw manufacturing, preferably in the aerospace, defense or medical industries.

Strong proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar), with a focus on tooling and mechanical design.

  • Experience with tooling design for deep draw manufacturing is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 6S, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with ITAR, Nadcap, AS9100 and ISO quality standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with a hands‑on approach to resolving technical issues.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and alignment with AMG’s growth and operational excellence goals.
