Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a Tool and Die Technician to inspect, repair, and maintain production dies in a busy manufacturing plant. You will operate an overhead crane to move dies, perform mechanical and electrical inspections, and carry out routine PMs to ensure dies run safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with tooling or die work in manufacturing/fabrication.
• Experience with die maintenance or preventive maintenance on dies or similar tooling.
• Ability to safely operate an overhead crane for moving dies and heavy components.
• TIG welding on stainless steel for minor repairs and rebuilds.
• Proficiency with grinding and surface grinding to restore die surfaces.
• Basic mechanical aptitude to inspect, disassemble, repair, and reassemble dies.
• Basic electrical understanding for die components.
• Ability to read and follow work instructions and safety guidelines.
• Attention to detail and accurate maintenance documentation.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and maintain dies to ensure reliable performance across product lines.
• Operate an overhead crane to move dies for inspection, maintenance, and repair.
• Conduct mechanical and electrical inspections to identify wear or issues.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance on dies.
• Diagnose and repair damaged dies and non-working parts.
• Use TIG welding to perform minor repairs on stainless steel.
• Grind and finish die surfaces to restore dimensions and quality.
• Disassemble, inspect, replace components, reassemble, and test dies.
• Fabricate guards, racks, or related components for safe die handling.
• Apply basic troubleshooting to resolve die performance issues.
• Follow safety procedures when operating cranes, welding, grinders, etc.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records for each die.
• Collaborate with production to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime.
• Develop knowledge of which dies belong to each product line.
