Job summary

Greenville Tool and Die is seeking a Die Maker to analyze specifications, lay out stock, set up and operate machine tools, and fit and assemble dies, gauges, jigs and fixtures to fabricate and repair metalworking tools.

Responsibilities

• Verify dimensions and tolerances with calipers, micrometers and dial indicators.

Job Summary:

Greenville Tool and Die is looking for a Die Maker. The Die Maker analyzes specifications, lays out metal stock, sets up and operates machine tools, and fits and assembles parts to fabricate and repair metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools by performing the following duties.

Key Responsibilities:

• Die Maker is responsible for every aspect of the tool.
• Conduct test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications; adjust as necessary.
• File, grind, shim, and adjust different parts to properly fit them together.
• Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools, using machine tools and hand tools.
• Study blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies.
• Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.
• Lead die construction and try out.
• Follow all safety rules and report unsafe work conditions to management.
• Keep the work area clean.
• Maintain appropriate tools and keep current on tool calibration.
