Job summary

Job description

Job Responsibilities
  • Designs, constructs, maintains, alters, checks, and repairs dies, fixtures, gauges, tools, jigs, machines, and equipment.
  • Ability to analyze specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualize products to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts.
  • Trains, mentors, supports, and maintains strong internal communication within the tool and die department.
  • Computes dimensions, plans layout, and determines assembly method and sequence of operations.
  • Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machine, shaper, and grinder, to machine parts, and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications.
  • Examines standard or previously used dies, tools, jigs and fixtures, and recommends design modifications regarding construction and function of part to improve tool life or performance.
  • Develops specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools and draws or sketches design of product.
  • Performs close and exacting bench and assembly operations to fit, align, calibrate, adjust, assemble, and finish work.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively with diverse personalities and individuals at various levels.
Educational Requirements
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Completion of apprenticeship in Tool and Die field, must have obtained a Journeyman’s card.
Experience Requirements
  • Five years of related experience and/or training in Tool and Die making procedures; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
  • Some physical demand: often lifting/moving average weight (25-50 lbs/11-27 kgs) material, may be required to lift up to 70lbs.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk constantly over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
  • Ability to perform occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling and/or reaching over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
