Job summary

Textron’s Tool & Die Maker A position in Fort Worth, TX is a full-time role focusing on precision tool and die fabrication, alterations, and repairs. You will perform bench and machine operations to uphold exacting tolerances and diagnose tool issues in collaboration with engineers and designers.

The role requires deep knowledge of precision measuring instruments and the ability to devise new methods and lay out sequences for efficient work flows. First shift duties apply.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of related experience in tool and die making.
• Knowledge of precision measuring instruments is required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and perform bench and machine operations to build, alter or repair dies, tools, gauges, fixtures or jigs with tight tolerances.
• Operate tool room precision equipment as needed to meet required tolerances.
• Diagnose and remedy tool difficulties with Tool Engineers and Designers.
• Understand heat treatment effects on metals.

Description

• Plans and perform a wide variety of bench and machine operations to build, alter or repair highly complicated dies, tools, gauges, fixtures or jigs, where accurate relationship, fitting or interchangeability of parts require maintenance of extremely close tolerances.
• May be required to operate any type of tool room precision equipment working to required tolerances.
• Must be able to diagnose and remedy tool difficulties working in conjunction with Tool Engineers and Designers.
• Must have knowledge of all types of precision measuring instruments.
• Must have the ability to devise new methods, develop new tools, lay out and plan a sequence of work.
• Cuts, drills, files, shapes, fits and assembles parts with or without the use of blueprints.
• Must understand the general effect of heat treatment on various metals.

Qualifications

Tools & Equipment Used:

• All kinds of tool room machinery and equipment, machinist’ hand tools, a wide variety of precision measuring instruments.

Experience & Other Requirements:

• Five (5) years of related experience.
