Job Description

Position Summary:

The Tool and Die Maker will cut, shape, finish, and maintain tools made of metal and forge diecasts to create molds.

Essential Functions:

• Build fixtures using tools and dies; create new dies as needed.
• Repair dies, molds, and tools; disassemble and reassemble equipment during repairs.
• Read blueprints and schematics to construct fixtures, tools, and machine parts.
• Use CAD software to design and create blueprints.
• Inspect tools and dies for defects.
• Test equipment and tools regularly for proper operation.
• Modify machines to ensure quality and efficiency.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
• Perform additional duties as assigned, including fitting and polishing dies, and ensuring timely delivery of materials and supplies.

Required Skills:

• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities.
• Safe operation of measuring and production equipment.
• Experience with EDM machines, Bridgeport, surface grinder, CNC mills 3 and 5 axis.
• Knowledge of geometry, trigonometry, algebra, and metallic properties.
• Ability to work independently and with engineers and machinists.
• Proficiency in CAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to meet deadlines, work flexible hours, and work independently with a sense of urgency.

Desired Skills:

• Highly organized, self-motivated, and team-oriented.

Experience & Education:

• Completion of an apprentice program with a licensed professional or established company.
• Tool and die maker certification required.

Physical Demands:

Infrequent bending, kneeling, reaching, stair and ladder climbing; occasional lifting up to 25 lbs; frequent sitting near machinery.
