Job summary

Paycom in Rockwood, TN seeks a skilled tool and die machinist to set up and operate manual and CNC machines. You will interpret drawings, inspect parts, and repair tooling to meet exact tolerances.

Strong knowledge of metallurgy, heat treatment, and GD&T is required, along with experience reading blueprints and working with CAD models. Safety and documentation are integral to the role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; trade school or apprenticeship certification preferred.
• 3+ years of experience as a tool and die machinist in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of machining practices, metallurgy, heat treatment, and tool design.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual and CNC machines (mills, lathes, grinders, EDM, etc.) to fabricate precision tools, dies, jigs, fixtures and specialized parts.
• Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD models to create or repair dies and tooling.
• Inspect finished products to ensure they meet required tolerances and specifications.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
• Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
• Work closely with engineering and production teams to troubleshoot tooling issues.
• Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and tooling inventory.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Run production parts as required.
