Job summary

Cardinal Scale Manufacturing Co in Webb City, MO is seeking a tool and die maker and repair specialist. You will set up and operate milling machines, lathes, drills and grinders, read blueprints, and select tooling and speeds to match part drawings.

The role requires basic machinist skills, attention to detail, and commitment to safety. Full-time hours, with standard shifts and potential overtime.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Responsibilities

• Set-up and operation of milling machines, engine lathe, radial drills, surface grinder, and hand tools.
• Read blueprints and use measuring devices to create/modify/repair tooling.
• Select feed rate, cutting speed, depth of cut, and tooling.
• Ensure finished work conforms to specifications and inspect results.
• Detect defective materials and report to management.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow safety procedures.
• Occasionally machine plastics or non-metal products.
• Complete and maintain paperwork for parts.

Summary/Objective

The tool and die maker and repair position uses appropriate equipment to create and make tooling to match part drawings for the organization.

Essential Functions

• Set-up and operation of milling machines, engine lathe, radial drills, surface grinder, and numerous hand tools.
• Read blueprints and use necessary measuring devices to make, modify, or repair existing tools for new or old jobs.
• Select feed rate, cutting speed, depth of cut, and tooling to be used.
• Basic machinist skills and experience in the set up and operation of turning, milling, and grinding machines is essential.
• Verification that finished work is in conformance.
• May machine plastics or non-metal products on occasion.
• Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to management or designee.
• Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follows prescribed safety procedures.

Required Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in related field
• Two (2) years of factory/manufacturing experience with tool & die or similar equipment.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 1st shift- 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.,2nd shift- 3:30 p.m. to midnight., 40 hours per week. Overtime may be required based on business needs.
