Job summary

Cardinal-Scale Manufacturing Co in Webb City, MO is seeking a tool and die maker to create tooling from drawings and repair existing tools. You will set up and operate milling machines, lathes, drills, and grinders, read blueprints, select tooling, and verify your work to ensure conformance.

The role emphasizes safety, documentation, and occasional plastics machining. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and some factory experience, with a preference for those who know tool & die

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Two years' factory/manufacturing experience preferred.
• Experience with tool and die or similar equipment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate milling machines, engine lathe, radial drills, and surface grinder.
• Read blueprints and measure parts to modify or repair tools.
• Choose feed rate, cutting speed, and tooling for jobs.
• Operate turning, milling, and grinding machines safely and accurately.
• Inspect finished work and document results.
• Maintain clean work area and follow safety procedures.
• Detect and report defective materials or conditions to management.
• May machine plastics or non-metal products occasionally.

Summary/Objective

The tool and die maker and repair position uses appropriate equipment to create and make tooling to match part drawings for the organization.

Essential Functions

• Set-up and operation of milling machines, engine lathe, radial drills, surface grinder, and numerous hand tools.
• Read blueprints and use necessary measuring devices to make, modify, or repair existing tools for new or old jobs.
• Select feed rate, cutting speed, depth of cut, and tooling to be used.
• Basic machinist skills and experience in the set up and operation of turning, milling, and grinding machines is essential.
• Verification that finished work is in conformance.
• May machine plastics or non-metal products on occasion.
• Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to management or designee.
• Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follows prescribed safety procedures.

Required Education and Experience

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 1st shift- 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.,2nd shift- 3:30 p.m. to midnight., 40 hours per week. Overtime may be required based on business needs.
