Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer—Tool & Die Machining for the 2nd shift in Texas. The role focuses on developing in-house machining capabilities for tooling and qualification of equipment to produce plastic injection molds and high‑pressure die cast tools.

You will collaborate with design, upstream production, and support teams to optimize parts for manufacturability, lead process improvements, and manage the equipment fleet. A B.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, materials engineering or other engineering discipline.
• 3+ years of experience with CNC machining.
• Master’s degree or PhD in an engineering discipline is preferred.
• Strong to expert level 3D CAD skills, including advanced surfacing and large assemblies.
• Experience with Siemens NX.
• Experience transitioning products from design to manufacturing and scaling to high volume.

Responsibilities

• Develop machining capability in-house for the tool & die team and deliver high-quality precision piece parts.
• Analyze piece parts and assemblies for DFM to ensure manufacturability.
• Collaborate with design engineering, upstream production, and support teams and manage supplier/customer relationships.
• Coordinate with manufacturing and design engineers, machinists, technicians, and quality personnel to ensure robust processes.
• Implement machining process controls to enable lights-out operation and reduce in-cycle intervention.
• Identify, procure, and install machine shop equipment and ensure maintenance and calibration.
