SpaceX is seeking a Tool & Die Supervisor to lead the tool and die team on the 2nd shift, overseeing injection molding, aluminum die casting, and stamping tooling. You will coordinate with cross‑functional groups to ensure high uptime, quality, and safety across all tooling activities.

The role requires strong leadership, problem-solving, and a track record of delivering on tight production schedules while driving continuous improvement in tooling operations at SpaceX.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in plastic injection mold maintenance and repair.
• 5+ years of experience building new plastic injection molds from raw material.
• 3+ years of experience in leadership or as a supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Mentor, lead, and supervise up to 20 employees.
• Supervise the production flow within the tool shop, ensuring safety and efficiency.
• Collaborate with shop floor, manufacturing engineers, and quality teams to resolve recurring nonconformance issues.
• Review work order instructions with planners and manufacturing engineers to ensure complete instructions.
• Meet tight and moving production schedules.
• Coordinate maintenance support during problematic situations.
• Ensure all work is completed on time and to specification.
• Evaluate team members through mid‑term/annual reviews.
• Provide regular reports on productivity status.
• Drive communication and culture, enforcing systems and policies.
• Monitor labor hours and overtime, approving staff hours.
• Responsible for all aspects of tool making activities.
• New injection mold builds.
• Mold maintenance and repair.
• Support internal machining team during builds or repairs.
• Adjust tool maintenance intervals with production/engineering.
• Refine mold prep checklists with engineering.
• Coordinate daily scope of work with tool and die team.
• Interview and hire tool making staff for two shifts.
• Support tooling troubleshooting with production/maintenance.
• Identify opportunities for improvement in tooling.
• Create and maintain mold spare parts lists.
• Explore future improvements and cost-saving initiatives.
• Support tooling trials with internal or external vendors.
