Job summary

American Trim in Ohio offers a State-Certified Apprentice Program to become a Registered Journeyperson Tool and Die Maker. Trainees learn in-house classroom and lab, developing skills in tooling for machines safely while focusing on safety and housekeeping.

Under direct supervision, apprentices build, repair and replace tooling, perform maintenance on dies, read blueprints, and travel to various sites. The program includes up to two years of classroom instruction, hands-on labs, and on-the-job

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Commitment to completing the Registered American Trim Apprenticeship Program, up to two years of classroom and on‑the‑job training.
Strong interest in hands-on work and problem‑solving.
Successful completion indicated by classroom performance and on‑the‑job competency.

Responsibilities

Perform preventative maintenance on dies, jigs, fixtures and transfer units.
Set up, operate and maintain service on tools such as lathes, milling machines, shaper and grinder.
Read and interpret blueprints or written instructions.
Troubleshoot dies, jigs, fixtures and transfer units.
Maintain safety and housekeeping standards.
