Job summary

AUTOKINITON is offering a four‑year Axis Engineering Tool and Die Apprenticeship program in Michigan. The role develops skills in lathe, milling, welding, CNC, die construction, and inspection while working with die leaders and engineering teams.

You will rotate through tool room operations, dies, and inspection, with opportunities for advancement, tuition reimbursement, and relocation support as part of a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Must pass aptitude test.
• Must have a valid driver license.
• Must be able to attend 4-year apprenticeship program through Autokiniton approved college.
• Successfully complete Hilo and Crane training program within 30 days.
• Ability to run all tool room & precision equipment efficiently.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal & written.
• Physical and drug screen are required to enter the training program.

Responsibilities

• Operate and become proficient in all tool room equipment including lathe, drill press, conventional milling machine (Bridgeport), and surface grinder.
• Bench (stone) die details to high polish.
• Assemble, set punches, lead‑check, and dry‑run dies.
• Operate and develop an intermediate skill level in mig welding and tig welding.
• Operate and develop a basic understanding of CNC milling, wire EDM, and co-ordinate measurement machines.
• Will be exposed to engineering disciplines including design and programming.
• Read detail prints and layout work piece to specifications.
• Design and construct templates and fixtures for repetitive projects.
• Verify conformance of work piece to specifications and high-quality product.
• Measure, mark, and scribe metal stock for machining.
• Perform hand operations involved in producing jigs, fixtures, tools, and dies.
• Determine specifications for inspection of work, using full range of precision measuring and gauging tools to perform inspection before, during and after machining.
• Work under the direction and alongside Die Leaders and Die Makers during all phases of die tryout and die construction
