Position Overview

We are seeking a full-time Tool Designer with CAD Design and Automation experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Conceptualize new designs for custom automated manufacturing equipment.
2. Design tooling and fixtures for new product assembly.
3. Select and integrate pneumatic systems to ensure reliable motion for high-volume applications.
4. Incorporate design features for safety, ergonomics, error proofing, and maintenance.
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to select and integrate electromechanical components such as servos, sensors, robots, etc.
6. Create detailed CAD models and drawings with tolerances, exploded views, and bills of materials.
7. Conduct design reviews with internal teams to gather feedback and ensure compliance with requirements.
8. Coordinate with machine shops to fabricate custom machined parts, weldments, and sheet metal components.
9. Work with technician teams to assemble and commission new equipment.
10. Manage workload independently while communicating schedule and status to project management.

Qualifications

• Extensive 3D modeling experience (SolidWorks preferred) with the ability to create and interpret 2D drawings (GD&T preferred).
• Fundamental understanding of automation technologies, manufacturing processes, assembly line design, and cost management.
• Experience with automated equipment including pneumatic cylinders, motors, conveyors, industrial robots, and machine guarding.
• Effective communication skills for technical content, both written and verbal.
• Adaptability to changing priorities and business demands.
• Strong attention to detail, work ethic, and personal accountability.
• Ability to visualize concepts, troubleshoot, and problem-solve effectively.
