Job summary

Major Tool & Machine in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Toolsetter to efficiently handle tooling, inspection, and storage for machining operations. You will read the tool crib log, verify dimensions with precision instruments, and support production by ensuring tooling readiness.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and 3–6 months machining experience. You’ll work on the tool crib, calibrate tools, and coordinate tool repairs while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; vocational training preferred.
• Three to six months machining experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret tooling specifications and gauges.

Responsibilities

• Read tool crib log book at the start of each shift.
• Measure angular dimensions, radii, contours with precision instruments.
• Test units for fit of moving parts and mechanical functioning.
• Inspect gauges and measuring instruments for conformance.
• Receive, unpack, and store incoming tools and equipment.
• Distribute tools and equipment to workers and maintain records.
• Set tools per tool sheets and operate pre-setter.
• Assist in daily operation of the tool crib.
