Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Tool Crib Attendant to manage tools, shop supplies, and equipment at our Starbase Texas site. You will maintain inventories, issue items to workers, and ensure proper tagging, safety, and documentation in a high-pace aerospace environment.

The role requires 2+ years in an aviation/aerospace tool room or 4+ years at a launch/test site, plus strong teamwork and safety discipline. Expect occasional overtime to meet operational needs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency required.
  • 2+ years in aerospace tool room OR 4+ years at a launch/test site.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, store and issue hand tools, replacement tools, and shop supplies.
  • Keep records of tools issued to and returned by workers.
  • Search for lost tools and notify supervision as required.
  • Prepare inventory and requisition stock; unpack and store new equipment.
  • Visually inspect tools for wear and defects; order replacements as needed.
  • Attach ID tags or engrave information on tools and equipment.
  • Assist repair cycle staff with inventories of parts and tools.
  • Assist management with ordering tools, parts, and equipment.
  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials.
  • Maintain tool room files, shop stock, calibrated tooling and hazardous waste areas.
  • Follow regulations, manuals, and safety directives.

TOOL CRIB ATTENDANTRESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Receive, store and issue hand tools, replacement tools, shop supplies and equipment
  • Keep record of tools issued to and returned by workers
  • Search for lost or misplaced tools and notify supervision as required
  • Prepare inventory and requisition stock as needed
  • Unpack and store new equipment
  • Visually inspect tools for wear and defects, and order replacement tools as necessary
  • Attach identification tags or engrave identifying information on tools and equipment as needed
  • Assist repair cycle specialist in maintaining inventories on parts, tools and equipment
  • Assist management team with the ordering of tools, parts, and equipment within the control of the tool room facility
  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials
  • Maintain technical order files, e-tools, bench stock, shop stock, calibrated tooling and hazardous waste areas
  • Practice good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention, and safety at all times
  • Follow technical data, manuals, regulations, and other maintenance directives as required
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 2+ years of professional experience working in an aviation or aerospace tool room environment; OR 4+ years of professional experience working at a launch or test site
PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Associate degree in a mechanical, electrical or computer field
  • Solid foundation with streaming low latency live video
  • Experience with Windows Server 2003, 2008 R2 and Windows 10
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • A strong passion for space exploration
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to assist with hydrotest and/or pneumastat testing on any component
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate, create and drive projects to completion
  • Familiarity with calibrated measurement devices including torque wrenches, dew point meters, etc.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Flight hardware is typically built in tight quarters, and physical dexterity is required
  • Work performed in an environment with exposure to fumes, odors and noise
  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends depending on site operational needs
  • Ability to safely rig and move items under 20,000 lbs.
  • Stand: Up to 10 hours per day
  • Sit: Up to 3 hours per day
  • Push/Pull: Up to 75lbs. (unassisted) between 1 to 2 hours per day
  • Overhead reach: Up to 10 hours per day
  • Walk: Up to 10 hours per day
  • Lift/Carry: Up to ≤ 50 lbs. (unassisted) between 1 to 2 hours per day
  • Climb (ladder/stairs): Up to 6 hours per day
  • Kneel/Crouch: Up to 10 hours per day
  • Upper body twist: Up to 6 hours per day
  • Ability to work in temperatures over 80 degrees 6 hours or greater per day
  • Candidate must be capable of safely working at heights (up to 500ft), in confined spaces, operating heavy equipment and machinery, and performing the physical requirements of the job listed in the job description
