Summary: Responsible for ordering and maintenance of all tooling, material, and supplies within the machine shop tool crib.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Maintain an inventory and item location system for all supplies, tooling, and fixtures necessary to support the needs of the machine shop.
2. Reorder items in cost-efficient lot sizes as necessary following established budget protocols.
3. Monitor and manage the Machine Shop tool budget.
4. Oversee the inside and outside tool sharpening services.
5. Assist Area Leads or Supervisor with kitting jobs in preparation for machine loading.
6. Seek and document lean process improvement ideas for the department.
7. Communicate effectively with vendors and personnel.
8. Cross-train other employees as backup.
9. Possess knowledge of machine tools.
10. Be familiar with Tool Vending Machines.

Qualification Requirements:

• High School diploma or GED.
• One to three years of related experience or training.
• Good command of English, both written and spoken.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, safety rules, operating and maintenance manuals.
• Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, ratios, percentages, and graph interpretation.
• Reasoning skills to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.
• Computer skills: basic Windows, internet, ERP/inventory systems, Microsoft Office, typing, familiarity with metals/materials, and machine shop tools.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Frequent activities include standing, sitting, typing, reaching, talking/hearing, lifting up to 25 lbs.
• Occasional activities include walking, kneeling, crouching, lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Rare activities include climbing, balancing, lifting over 100 lbs.
• Visual requirements: frequent close vision, occasional distance and color vision, rare depth perception.
• Work environment involves moderate to loud noise, occasional exposure to mechanical parts, loud noise, high places, outdoor weather, electrical hazards, vibrations, and quiet environments.
