Tool Crib Attendant, Machining (Starship) - Level 4/5

The Hawthorne Starship Machining team machines and delivers parts for Starship/Super Heavy, including regulators, solenoids, and butterfly valves. The Tool Crib Attendant will manage tools and supplies, maintain records, inspect received items, manage spares, and support production setup and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities
  • Receive, store, and issue tool setting equipment, hydraulic, shrink fit supplies, and other materials used in machining.
  • Maintain accurate computerized records of all tools and equipment.
  • Inspect received items for defects, wear, or damage and report issues.
  • Manage spares and replacements to keep equipment in good working order.
  • Coordinate with purchasing to maintain inventory levels.
  • Prepare tools and fixtures for production using setup sheets.
  • Identify tool issues and initiate corrective actions.
  • Perform safety audits in the tool crib area.
Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years experience with tool inventory control in a manufacturing environment or completion of a machining certification.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Experience with tool setting equipment, hydraulic, shrink fit tools.
  • Knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, geometry, coatings, and wear.
  • Experience setting tools for TIR.
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Proficiency with measuring instruments like micrometers, calipers, profilometers, borescopes.
  • Deburring experience with manual and automated tools.
  • Knowledge of CNC machining and working in a machine shop.
  • Ability to interpret safety rules, operating manuals, and procedures.
  • Strong communication skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office.
Additional Requirements
  • Start time: 1st shift (5:00 AM).
  • Lift up to 35 lbs unassisted.
  • Availability for overtime and weekends.
  • Stand and kneel for 8 hours.
  • Repetitive motion, bending, twisting, and noise exposure are expected.
Compensation & Benefits

Level 4: $29.00 - $33.00/hour; Level 5: $32.00 - $35.00/hour. Salary depends on experience and skills. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), bonuses, stock options, paid vacation, holidays, and more.
