Job summary

SpaceX in the United States is seeking a TOOL CRIB ATTENDANT to manage hand tools, shop supplies and equipment in the tool room. You will receive, store, issue, track, and help maintain inventories to support launch operations and maintenance.

The role requires hands-on work, attention to safety and regulatory compliance, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and strong teamwork in a fast-paced aerospace environment at a SpaceX site.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in aviation/aerospace tool room or 4+ years at a launch/test site.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Receive, store and issue hand tools, replacement tools, shop supplies and equipment.
• Keep record of tools issued to and returned by workers.
• Search for lost or misplaced tools and notify supervision as required.
• Prepare inventory and requisition stock as needed.
• Unpack and store new equipment.
• Visually inspect tools for wear/defects and order replacements.
• Attach tags or engrave identifying information on tools/equipment.
• Assist repair cycle specialist in maintaining inventories of parts/tools.
• Assist management with ordering tools, parts, and equipment within the tool room.
• Handle and dispose of hazardous materials.
• Maintain technical order files, e-tools, bench stock, shop stock, calibrated tooling and hazardous waste areas.
• Practice housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness, and safety at all times.
• Follow technical data, manuals, regulations and maintenance directives.

TOOL CRIB ATTENDANT

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Receive, store and issue hand tools, replacement tools, shop supplies and equipment
• Keep record of tools issued to and returned by workers

• Practice good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention, and safety at all times
• Follow technical data, manuals, regulations, and other maintenance directives as required

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate
• 2+ years of professional experience working in an aviation or aerospace tool room environment; OR 4+ years of professional experience working at a launch or test site

PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Associate degree in a mechanical, electrical or computer field
• Solid foundation with streaming low latency live video
• Experience with Windows Server 2003, 2008 R2 and Windows 10
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
• A strong passion for space exploration
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Ability to assist with hydrotest and/or pneumastat testing on any component
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate, create and drive projects to completion
• Familiarity with calibrated measurement devices including torque wrenches, dew point meters, etc.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Flight hardware is typically built in tight quarters, and physical dexterity is required
• Work performed in an environment with exposure to fumes, odors and noise
• Must be able to work overtime and weekends depending on site operational needs
• Ability to safely rig and move items under 20,000 lbs.
• Stand: Up to 10 hours per day
• Sit: Up to 3 hours per day
• Push/Pull: Up to 75lbs. (unassisted) between 1 to 2 hours per day
• Overhead reach: Up to 10 hours per day
• Walk: Up to 10 hours per day
• Lift/Carry: Up to ≤ 50 lbs. (unassisted) between 1 to 2 hours per day
• Climb (ladder/stairs): Up to 6 hours per day
• Kneel/Crouch: Up to 10 hours per day
• Upper body twist: Up to 6 hours per day
• Ability to work in temperatures over 80 degrees 6 hours or greater per day
• Candidate must be capable of safely working at heights (up to 500ft), in confined spaces, operating heavy equipment and machinery, and performing the physical requirements of the job listed in the job description
