Job summary

Jobtailor in Union, SC seeks an experienced Tool & Die Manager to lead a tooling team in an automotive stamping and robotic welding facility. You will manage processes, perform tool/die maintenance, and drive continuous improvement across dies, fixtures, and cells.

Key qualifications include a USDOL Tool & Die Journeyman’s Card or 8 years related experience, plus prior leadership in tooling. Willingness to work varied shifts and overtime as required.

Qualifications

• Requires USDOL Tool & Die Journeyman’s Card or proof of 8 years related experience.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience troubleshooting in a production stamping plant preferred.
• Management experience leading a Tool & Die department highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage Tool & Die processes and personnel.
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled tool and die making, repair, and equipment maintenance.
• Troubleshoot, maintain, and continuously improve tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures in an automotive stamping and robotic welding facility.
• Fabricate new and replacement details for robotic weld cells and spot weld cells.
• Assemble, build, and maintain fixtures.
• Drive quality, cost savings, and continuous tool, die, and mechanical improvements.
• Participate in the Layered Process Audit schedule.
• Participate in internal ISO 9001/IATF 16949 audits when qualified as an internal auditor.
• Support internal and external audits by answering questions and providing information related to ISO 9001/IATF 16949, VDA 6.3, and customer standards.
• Perform other necessary duties, including die setting, as required.

Job description

Requirements

• USDOL Tool & Die Journeyman’s Card or proof of 8 years related experience
• Management experience leading a Tool & Die department highly preferred
• Minimum 2 years’ experience troubleshooting in a production stamping plant
• Experience with medium to large tandem line dies, small to medium transfer dies, or medium to large progressive dies
• Experience with transfer dies and large progressive dies is a plus
• Experience implementing engineering changes is a plus
• Own basic set of precision/hand tools
• Ability to read detail prints and order perishable details such as pierce punches, buttons, gas springs, guide pins, and bushings
• Willingness to work any shift
• Willingness to work overtime, including Sundays, as required
• Willingness to perform die setting as required
• Ability to participate in relevant ISO 9001/IATF 16949 audits when qualified as an internal auditor
