Job description

Tool and Die Maker - 3rd Shift

Reporting To: Engineering Manager

Your Role and Responsibilities
  1. Reading and interpreting blueprints, design schematics, and CAD drawings.
  2. Visualizing and computing metal shapes and tolerances.
  3. Designing jigs and templates to support part fabrication.
  4. Setting up and operating grinders, mills, lathes, drill presses, and other tools.
  5. Cutting and shaping blocks to specified dimensions.
  6. Grinding carbide, fitting, and assembling parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, and gauges using machine and hand tools.
  7. Assembling and disassembling tools and die parts to support production, ensuring timely repairs to maintain plant productivity.
  8. Inspecting tools and dies for defects, performing repairs, and conducting test runs.
  9. Supporting continuous improvement programs (5S, SMED, KAIZEN).
  10. Participating in tooling efficiency improvement and scrap reduction projects.
  11. Following SOPs for die repairs and maintaining detailed records of maintenance and repairs in SAP.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma and Journeyman Tool and Die Maker Certification.
  • 10+ years of experience as a Tool and Die Maker.
  • Experience with progressive stamping operations, carbide lamination, forming dies, and die sensing/protection.
  • Proficiency with metalworking tools including drills, milling machines, grinders, and lathes.
  • Deep knowledge of troubleshooting in die operation and assembly.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and handle carbide tooling.
  • Experience with quality control analysis.
  • Skill in measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, scales, and height gauges.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with teams.
  • Autonomy and experience working with engineers and machinists with minimal supervision.
  • Metallurgical knowledge of metal properties.
  • Proficiency in shop math and trigonometry.
  • Adherence to safety rules and regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
  • Legal work authorization for employment in the US.
