Description

General Description (Summary of primary duties and objectives): Working under minimal supervision, builds, repairs, rebuilds, and troubleshoots dies, fixtures, tools, and machines from prints or instructions to meet required tolerances and customer expectations. Recommends improvements in tooling and production processes. Assists in training/mentoring apprentices, supplemental/contract labor, and peers when called upon.

• Safeguard assets from theft and misuse, ensure segregation of duties to minimize fraud.
• Comply with business ethics, applicable laws, and regulations. Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
• Periodically reconcile physical assets to accounting records.

Skills/Abilities

Requirements Profile: Competencies, skills, abilities, experience, education necessary:

• Ability to troubleshoot and repair production dies, fixtures, and tooling to avoid delays and maintain quality standards.
• Ability to read prints, perform shop math, and solve problems to complete projects.
• Skill in building, servicing, or repairing tooling using various tools and equipment including CNC mills, lathes, grinders, welders, cranes, and forklifts.
• High mechanical ability and knowledge to determine repairability of tooling and equipment.
• Knowledge of die and press sensors application and installation.
• Adherence to Steelcase Die Standards and safety procedures.
• Physical capability for heavy lifting and operating cranes and forklifts.

Education/Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a 4-year apprenticeship approved by the U.S. Department of Labor and possession of a valid Journeyman's Card.
