Description

Working under minimal supervision, builds, repairs, rebuilds, and troubleshoots dies, fixtures, tools, and machines from prints or instructions to meet required tolerances and customer expectations. Recommends improvements in tooling and production processes. When called upon, would assist in training/mentoring apprentices, supplemental/contract labor, and peers.

Additionally, employees are expected to abide by all internal control & compliance practices to:

• Safeguard assets from theft and misuse, ensure segregation of duties to minimize fraud.
• Comply with business ethics, applicable laws, and regulations, and maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
• Periodically reconcile physical assets to accounting records.

Requirements Profile

• Able to troubleshoot and repair production dies, fixtures, and tooling to avoid delays and maintain tooling per Steelcase Quality System.
• Ability to read prints, use shop math, and problem-solving skills to complete projects.
• Skilled in building, servicing, or repairing tooling using various tools and equipment, including CNC mills, lathes, grinders, welders, cranes, and forklifts.
• High mechanical ability and knowledge to assess repairability of tooling and equipment.
• Knowledge of proper application and installation of die and press sensors.
• Familiarity with Steelcase Die Standards and safety procedures.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting and operate cranes and forklifts.

Education/Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a 4-year apprenticeship approved by the U.S. Department of Labor and possession of a valid Journeyman's Card.
