Basic Purpose and Objective
Under general supervision and according to established policy and procedures, the tool and die maker is responsible for performing his/her own set-ups and machine/grind all necessary components required to complete assignments given to support all manufacturing product lines.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
• Strong understanding of slip and press fit relationships.
• Repair Header tools and make complete header tool components.
• Work with carbide, hardened tool steels, dies and cutting tools to close tolerance.
• Work with mills, lathes, surface grinders, hones, and fixtures.
• Use shop math as required.
• Clean and maintain the work area.
Skills and Formal Training Requirements/Experience
• Good machining skills.
• Shop math.
• Must be able to read blueprints.
• Use measuring instruments (i.e., micrometers, calipers, comparators).
• Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a tool maker for a manufacturing facility.
