The Tool and Die Maker is responsible for designing, building, repairing, and maintaining precision tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and related equipment used in manufacturing processes. This position requires expertise in blueprint reading, machining, troubleshooting, and precision measurement to ensure production tools meet quality and performance standards.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, CAD models, and specifications.
Set up and operate manual and CNC machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses.
Fabricate, repair, modify, and maintain dies, molds, jigs, fixtures, and tooling.
Measure and inspect finished components using precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gauge blocks, and dial indicators.
Assemble and fit tooling components to required tolerances.
Troubleshoot tooling issues and perform corrective repairs to minimize production downtime.
Conduct testing and trial runs of new or repaired tools and dies.
Collaborate with engineers, machinists, and production personnel to improve tooling performance.
Maintain accurate records of repairs, modifications, and preventive maintenance activities.
Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment.
Completion of a Tool and Die apprenticeship program or equivalent experience preferred.
Experience operating manual and CNC machining equipment.
Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T specifications.
Strong knowledge of metalworking processes, tooling design, and precision measurement techniques.
Proficiency with hand tools, measuring instruments, and machine shop equipment.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge in die repair and progressive die techniques.
Experience in tooling and machining processes.

This is a Permanent position based out of Gurnee, IL.
The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $80000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
