Job summary

Trillium Staffing is seeking candidates for a 1st Shift Precision Tooling Leadership Role in a high-growth manufacturing environment in Baltimore, Maryland. This role involves designing complex tooling systems and operating CNC equipment with a flexible start time between 4:00 AM - 9:00 AM.

Qualified candidates should have a solid background in tool & die making with at least 6 years of experience. Benefits include medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan, and paid time off.

Job description

1st Shift Precision Tooling Leadership Role opening in a High-Growth Advanced Manufacturing Environment in Baltimore!

Salary Range: $45.00 - 50.00/hour (based on experience)

*Relocation provided for candidates meeting/exceeding all requirements of role!

Schedule: 1st Shift. Flexible start time (between 4:00 AM - 9:00 AM; consistent start time required)

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and modify complex tooling systems, including dies, molds, fixtures, jigs, and gauges with minimal supervision
  • Operate and program CNC equipment, manual mills, lathes, surface grinders, EDM machines, and other precision tools
  • Develop and optimize tool paths using CAM software as needed
  • Work with hardened steels, specialty alloys, and advanced engineered materials
  • Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, GD&T specifications, and technical documentation
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex tooling and production issues
  • Repair, rebuild, and restore worn or damaged tooling and dies
  • Diagnose root causes of tooling failure, wear, or dimensional variation and implement corrective actions
  • Drive improvements in tool life, cycle time, efficiency, and product quality
  • Perform precision inspection using CMMs, optical comparators, micrometers, indicators, and related equipment
  • Ensure tooling meets all tolerance, quality, and performance standards
  • Document repairs, modifications, and preventive maintenance activities

Qualifications
  • Expert-level precision machining (CNC and manual)
  • Strong understanding of tooling design, materials, heat treatment, and metallurgy
  • Advanced knowledge of GD&T and technical drawing interpretation
  • High proficiency in precision measurement and inspection techniques
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 6+ years of experience in tool & die making, precision machining, mold/die manufacturing, or related field
  • Experience with high-volume metal stamping environments
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical school, apprenticeship, or trade certification in machining/tool & die
  • Prior senior-level or lead toolmaking experience
