Job summary

Bharat Forge Aluminum USA, Inc. in Kentucky is seeking a skilled CNC machinist to set up, load, and operate EDM and graphite milling machines to produce parts within precise tolerances. You will also set up lathes for training, threading and boring operations, and handle CAM data transfer.

Responsibilities include CAD/CAM data handling, CAD/CAM integration, tool maintenance, forklift and crane operations, and starting machine processes with attention to safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Technical or vocational training in machining is required.
• Experience with CNC milling and EDM is preferred.
• Ability to read CAD/CAM data and set up CAM programs.

Responsibilities

• Retrieve program for job and load it to CNC milling machine.
• Set up die block in milling machine to prevent movement during machining.
• Set up cutters and adjust height/length for each job.
• Check depth/width after milling to ensure correct cutter and no pull-down.
• Sharpen cutting tools as needed.
• Transfer CAD/CAM data to machine control (DNC) and generate cutter location files.
• Start machine process and perform basic maintenance on machines.

Description

Set up, load and operate EDM and graphite milling machine as required to produce parts to required specification and tolerances,

able to set up, load and operate lathe to perform training, threading and boring operations as required to meet customer and organization specifications.

Requirements

• Retrieves program for job, loads program to CNC milling machine.
• Sets up die block in milling machine and follows procedure to ensure blocks are set up properly and do not move when machining.
• Sets up cutters in holders and sets them for proper height and length for each job.
• During and and after impression of die block is milled, has to check the depth and width to ensure the correct cutter is used, that no cutter pull down has occurred and that the program of the job has run correctly.
• Sharpens all cutting tools as needed.
• Fills out Job Tracking Form and files program after each job.
• Stores and removes finish die to proper storage area using a forklift truck and overhead crane.
• Performs minor maintenance on machines such as oiling and greasing filters.
• Set up, load and operate lathe to perform training, threading and boring operations as required.
• Set-up work in lathe.
• Set-up tool changes manually.
• Programs needed CAD data in central system (PC) to generate CAM data.
• Transfer CAD or CAM data from central system to machine control (DNC).
• Program the needed CAM data to generate cutter location file.
• Start machine process.
• Grinds and shapes own cutting tools on a tool grinder when needed.
• Technical/Vocational Certification in Field
• Able to transfer CAD/CAM data
• Prior experience in setting up machinery
