Job summary

MW Industries, Inc. is hiring a Tool and Die Maker Trainee to work toward precise tolerances in building stamping and forming dies for springs and Bellevilles.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, fitting and assembling parts, and inspecting dies to ensure accuracy. Requires ability to operate conventional machine tools and basic math for measurements.

Qualifications

• Able to read CAD drawings and interpret specifications.
• Must be able to work to tight tolerances.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Strong math and measurement skills.

• Study blueprints, sketches, models or specs to plan tool/die fabrication.
• Fit and assemble parts to make dies and tools.
• Inspect finished dies for contour conformity and defects.
• Set up and operate lathes, mills and grinders to shape parts.
• Drill and tap holes for assembly.
• Polish and finish surfaces on parts or tools.
• Verify dimensions with calipers, gauges and micrometers.
• Must be mechanically inclined.

The Tool and Die Maker Trainee will work to precise tolerances to build stamping and forming dies used in the manufacture of Springs and Bellevilles.

Essential Job Functions

• Study blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies.
• Fit and assemble parts to make various dies and tools, using machine tools and hand tools.
• Inspect finished dies for contour conformity and defects.
• Set up and operate conventional machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes. (Some experience required)
• Set up and operate drill presses to drill and tap holes in parts for assembly.
• Smooth and polish flat and contoured surfaces of parts or tools, using scrapers, abrasive stones, files, emery cloths, or grinders.
• Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.
• Must be mechanically inclined.
