Job summary

College of Southern Idaho seeks an Early Head Start Toddler Teacher in American Falls to join a collaborative team. You will design responsive activities aligned with Head Start standards and HighScope, guiding toddler development while supporting families as their child’s first teacher.

The role emphasizes documentation, IFSP participation, home visits, and outreach to social services. A CDA and 1 year of toddler experience are required, with a valid driver’s license and data-entry skills.

Qualifications

  • Infant/Toddler CDA credential required before signing an employment agreement.
  • One year experience working with toddlers and families.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Understanding of basic computer programs and ability to enter data into online systems.
  • Current driver’s license.
  • Criminal record check completed prior to hire.

Responsibilities

  • Treat participants, staff and community members with positive regard.
  • Supervise each enrolled child to ensure health and safety.
  • Carry out Toddler High/Scope curriculum in classroom and home contexts.
  • Assist with group socialization experiences and family activities.
  • Provide education, services and health/nutrition support to assigned families.
  • Facilitate parental involvement in curriculum planning and governance.
  • Observe toddler development and create individualized plans.
  • Participate in IFSP meetings and coordinate with specialists.
  • Arrange home visit schedule and develop home visit plans.
  • Complete curriculum during home visits as per work plans.
  • Serve as a resource for social services access within the community.
  • Collaborate to recruit and train parent/community volunteers.
  • Share progress information with parents and staff.
  • Assist with recruitment activities as needed.
  • Inform parents of Head Start policies and report suspected abuse.
  • Plan and execute health and nutrition education.
  • Maintain confidentiality of family records and information.
  • Make at least two home visits per program year.
  • Conduct staff/parent conferences to discuss progress.
  • Participate in an individual continuing education plan including CPR/First Aid.
