Job summary

College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls, ID, seeks an Assistant Teacher to collaborate with the Lead Teacher in delivering Head Start/Early Head Start services per performance standards. You will assist in record keeping, design, and supervision of staff and volunteers, helping centers needing assistance.

Qualifications include an Associate degree in Early Childhood Education, one year with preschoolers, and a valid driver’s license. Must pass a criminal history check prior to hire.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or closely related field is required.
• One year experience working with preschool children is required.
• Ability to communicate verbally is required.
• Ability to communicate in writing is required.
• Current driver’s license is required and a criminal history check is required before hire.

Responsibilities

• Treat participants, fellow staff, and community members with positive regard.
• Adhere to a prescriptive schedule for class preparation, evaluation, and breaks.
• Collaborate with center staff to create an inviting, culturally reflective classroom environment.
• Assist Lead Teacher in supervising staff and volunteers and in training and evaluation.
• Observe and document developmental progress and create individualized plans for each child.
• Help set up and implement High/Scope curriculum schedules and activities.
• Recruit, train and support parent and community volunteers.
• Share progress information with parents and assist in recruitment activities.
• Develop procedures for health checks, dental brushing, and fluoride use, and coordinate nutrition education.
• Plan classroom activities with the cook for food experiences.
• Participate in ongoing education including CPR and First Aid.
